Winter Snow at High ISO

The first thought anytime we have snow, is "how can I shoot this?". So last night I got my first shot at 1600ISO, looking down my street.

After finally giving up the fight that my glass is slow (3.5-5.6), I decided to see how things looked with the flash (on board). SO, If you've ever tried to shoot the night sky with auto focus, you'll not have much luck. I finally wound up using focus lock by focusing on the brick wall and aiming up. I was able to capture falling snow, but the odd thing is that it looks like its moving away from me. Don't know how that happened.
Here is my "warp speed" photo, Hope you enjoy.
